Short Answer

Use the item importer, since this is much faster than “create similar item” tools you may have used on other software systems.

Detailed Explanation

When you use the importer, you can create a spreadsheet (e.g. Excel) and very quickly copy and paste rows, then edit the changes you need for each item.  You could create 100’s or 1,000’s of similar products several times quicker than in the manager.
