Short Answer:There are a few places where you may need to update links in the shopping cart software. Failure to update these links can break your store. If in doubt, or you do not have the time, you may choose to have us update those links for you. Detailed Explanation:
The links you would need to change are the ones that include your whole website URL, sometimes called the "absolute URL," or in other words, your domain name. E.g. http://www.mywebsite.com These are used by default on most stores:
- CODE > look under steps #2 and #3
- SETTINGS > checkout Settings > "Checkout Return - URL"
Other less common places depends on how you configured your store.
Starting from most to least likely:
- SETTINGS > Checkout, Cart, and catalog Settings pages
- Take extra note under Catalog Settings, under
various fields including breadcrumbs, images, and occassionally, even
custom templates.
- Also take extra care on Checkout if you are using the silent post, or "terms and conditions" features.
- Store settings, including email addresses.
- If you have hard-coded absolute URL's in your product descriptions, category headers/footers, or email settings.
