Short Answer:- Let the shopping cart generate the entire product catalog.
- Use your own static HTML pages, and attach an "Add to Cart" button"
- Link to specif category/product pages that are generated by the shopping cart software
Detailed Explanation:- The most common method is to make a new page for your (existing website) and put in the Veracart code. This one page actually is dynamic and will automatically publish all your categories, product pages, etc... that are created or edited from the shopping cart manager. This is most common because it is typically much faster to manage, especially since the business owner can then manager products without intervention from the web designer. It is also much more powerful in certain aspects as it can do everything including: product search, wholesale/B2B pricing, breadcrumb navigation, lots of Attributes easily, cross selling, item feeds, and so much more.
- Another way you can implement the cart is to create your own static product pages (e.g. using DreamWeaver, FrontPage, ExpressionWeb, etc...) and then use the "Add to cart" or "Buy Now" button to link it to the Veracart shopping cart. Please note that this method works best for products that have really unique layouts that are not feasible with our template system, and you will lose much of the shopping cart software's powerful, dynamic feature set. Please see the related articles below to learn more about which feature sets you would not have as a result of using your own static pages.
- The final way is a mix between #1 and #2. Instead of letting shoppers browse your entire online catalog, you create links to individual categories and products. One common need for this is a site that simply has one category, or one product, and by linking from the site's homepage, directly to the category/product (instead of the main catalog entry page) cuts out a step or two, shortening the shopping process.
