Sorting categories for your store:

Go to  productS > Sort Categories. There you can define the order by putting in numbers like 1, 2, 3, however we find that using bigger increments like 10, 20, 30 is better as it gives you flexibility to move stuff around later should you want to, without renumbering everything.

IMPORTANT: Sorting is done on a per-category level, meaning, you can restart the numbering for each level of categories. For example:

 
1. Shoes    
        
   1. Casual
        
   2. Dress
      
    
 
2. Shirts   
        
   1. Long-sleeve
        
   2. Short sleeve
      
    

Sorting items for your store front (website):

   
1. In the manager, go to PRODUCTS > Items List
   
2. From the "Category" drop-down list that appears on that page, choose a category that you want to sort, then click the button on the right.     
          
   1. Note: Sorting your products is done on a per-category basis, which is way you cannot sort your products when it is set to "ALL CATEGORIES."
        
      
   
3. Now, on the right side of the page, you will see a new column  that says “Sort.”  Enter in the numbers here for the order that you want them to appear. You can use 1, 2, 3, etc... or we find it's easier to use something like 10, 20, 30, etc... since it allows you to easily change sorting later, since you wouldn't have to renumber them all.
 

Sorting items in the manager, on the items list:

Sorting items in the manager does is only to allow you to find your products easier in the manager. It has no effect how they appear on the front end website (your online store).

There is a drop-down menu at the top of the Items List, which lets you easily change the sort order of your products in the manager.
