Short Answer:

Steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Place an order with a  credit card.  Does it happen with only one credit card? 
  2. If so, then this is probably a problem with the credit card such as a card that card is over the limit, expired, or they are using the wrong address.
  3. If it happens with all credit cards, then this is usually caused because you have the wrong password in your gateway settings (or you have not setup the gateway at all).  We see this error happen most often when someone changes their password with their gateway, but forget to update it (to match) in the shopping cart manager.

Note:  You can always void your test order from within your gateway, after it has gone through.  We cannot use our credit card here to test your store.

Detailed Explanation:

In the case that all credit cards fail, please re-enter your gateway settings in the shopping cart manager.  To do this, go to the “Settings” page, click “Payment Methods,” and then next to the gateway you are using, click the “CONFIGURE” link.  Enter or re-enter your gateway information (username, password, etc...).
