Short Answer:

Use our Member pricing system.  This system allows what we generically refer to as “members” to login to your website, and then browse the catalog just like a regular shopper would, except now the pricing is customize according to their membership level.  In this way, they can see their member prices as they shop—and they will not see that discounted pricing until they are logged in.  Whenever you setup new products, you will need to return to the pricing levels and apply discounts there as well.

If you have a single discount level (e.g. 25%) for all your products, you may want to consider just using “Promos” (under MARKETING).  You would simply create a promotion, and then create a promo code that you would only give out to your customers of choice (e.g. send them an email).  As you see, this can be a lot less to manage, but the members will not see the discount until they apply it in the checkout.

Detailed Explanation:

There are  basically 3 steps to this.

  1. Create your custom pricing schemes:   Go to CUSTOMERS > Custom Price Scheme and click “Add Scheme” and setup the prices desired.  (note:  Whenever you add new products to your store, you will need to come back here and add prices for those new products).
  2.
  3. Give your members a way to log in on your website:   Go to CODE tab and add the “Member Codes” code to a new page on your website.
  4.
  5. Create member accounts as needed:
  6.

    1. Go to CUSTOMERS tab, and click “Create New Customer”  (or you can edit an existing customer if they have ordered before)
    2.
    3. Under “Customer Type” field, select “Member”
    4.
    5. Then below, select a “Custom Pricing Scheme” they should get.
    6.
    7. Set any other options that you need, such as “Tax Exempt"  Again, whenever you create new  items in your store, you will need to return over to your Pricing Schemes to  update prices for each of your schemes.
