<p>This is probably due to your product having too many Attribute combinations, while using the inventory feature. To be sure that this is really the reason for the error, you will see the error in two places: First, in the manager, on the inventory page for that item; and second, on your store’s Item List View, or Item Detailed View, where that item is located. Please read the detailed explanation if you need to know how to resolve this.</p> <h2>Detailed Explanation:</h2> <p>This is caused for example when I have inventory enabled, and that item has 5 Attribute Groups. Let’s say that in each group there are 10 attributes. Then the shopping cart software will then calculate 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 = 100,000 combinations. This is too many, and I am sure you would not want to define inventory for all of those 100,000 combinations. </p> <p>If this still doesn’t make sense, let me give a smaller example. Let’s say you are selling shirts and have 2 attribute groups. One for size and the other for color. In “size” we’ll say you have 3 sizes: Small, Large, Large. In “color” let’s say you have 3 colors: red, white, blue. Now when you are using the inventory system, the cart will automatically cross-multiply every one of those so that you can track inventory for each combination, such as “red small,” “red medium,” “red large,” “white small,” etc…. Total combinations will equal 3 x 3 = 9 total.</p> <p>To resolve this, you have a couple of options: </p> <ul> <li>Remove, or reduce the attribute groups for that item.</li> <li>Disable the inventory system altogether. This is one of the reasons why we say you should not use the inventory system if you really don’t need to.</li> </ul> |
